after the release of his beautifully put together album ‘shining the money ball’ via vancouver’s 1080p earlier last year (which will see a limited vinyl release on lo recordings later this year), as well as having music released through 100% silk, body-san joins the lo family with ‘pacific reasons ep’. having been a part of the new wave of house music to emerge over the past few years from the west coast of america and canada, body-san delivers music with a rich sense of depth, emotive precision and concise instrumentation throughout. brandon knocke (in his own apt description) offers three ‘coastal burners’ through ‘pacific reasons’, with the addition of the majestic interlude ‘liquid entrance’. ‘topaz chalice’ sets us off with the sunset, created through comforting yet strangely ominous chords and vocal melody lines. the track slowly evolves with small percussive flurries, beautiful chord and melody progressions and a smooth, sliding bass line. as pleasant and calming as ‘topaz chalice’ is, we still feel the full force of knocke’s thumping kick, making it as viable for the dance as it is for the cans...

having opened up 2015 with his thumping debut *momentary archive* on lobster theremin, sean dodd aka reflec turns out more rhythmic, melodic rollers for war-torn techno imprint pacific command. exploring darker and deeper shades of techno since his last 12 inch, dodd instills his productions with a breakneck velocity, a runaway mentality that threads its way through all three tracks on the ep.

having turned out two hazy, driving eps of muffled techno for lobster theremin sublabel mörk, nthng arrives on pacific command for a rare two track exploration of gritty dutch rave and rolling trance-y techno.
on *are you here*, nthng takes an up-tempo bucket-booted drum shuffle and steadily filters its way into a skittering hat furore, all coated with epic pads and a demi-hoover rave stab. full fire-alarm business.
on the flip, there is serious influence from early trance and techno with the warehouse-crushing *in the afterglow*. constructed on the back of an early 90s hard house-esque alien synth patterns and rolling wildly into the deepest depths of the forest rave, until the long-awaited sunlight pads come bursting through the leaves.

doc severinsen is an accomplished american jazz/pop trumpet player, and as a band leader gained considerable notoriety on the tonight show with johnny carson. like most musicians in the 70s, doc took his shot at the disco and funk sounds of the time, gathered stellar musicians, and released impeccably sounding works. two of these cuts, be with you and shine on me are featured on this release. harvey s unfailing magic touch has yielded two dj-friendly edits with a lot of punch and galactic energy, yet with a velvet undertone. staying true to the mission, the label took great care throughout the production process in order to preserve the quality of the original recordings.

beaches of the black sea is an ambitious chugger filled with flamenco guitars and synths. the b-side stealing the fire from heaven is a more experimental cut with neo-industrial rhythms and a rolling bassline. the past two releases have seen support from davude mancuso, francois k, and andrew weatherall to name just a few.

brandon johnson, the artist known as tridact, has been putting together his mix of analog electronics and beats for some time. growing up in and around santa barbara, california, he has recently traded the beaches and foothills of southern california to move to the forests and mountains of southern oregon. after participating in various bands and other musical projects in santa barbara, he bought a simple setup consisting of a midi sequencer, a sampler and a couple of vintage synthesizers and began creating his own electronic music. over time he built up a small studio and added some live instrumentation into the mix. in the late 2000s, he began posting some of his tracks online, eventually leading to his first release, >light minute<, on the synchronicity suite compilation on moodgadget records, alongside artists such as wisp and mux mool. the track was later re-released on ghostly internationals nocturnal suite compilation. on tridact’s debut album on prins thomas internasjonal label, he creates an eclectic blend of densely layered, melodic, song-oriented instrumental tracks which combine analog synthesizers, guitars and programmed beats. the album draws from influences ranging from 60s pop to disco, house, techno and breakbeat to make a sound that reflects a distinctly pacific coast experience. from the new tridact album (intcd0002) we have cherry picked these tracks for a exclusive vinyl edition spread over 1 12 inch and a 7 inch.
